What can I say about Trauma? It's a surprising journey in a new format that will captivate the audience from the first breath to the last.
Experiencing this immersive show is like being inside one of those horror films about which you can't say much so as not to spoil the experience. The less you know, the better.
Highly cinematic, psychotic and surprising, Trauma takes the audience through different spaces of the convent, following the lives of several characters. Everything happens from a single scene that the spectators follow and that unfolds through different spaces.
No one can predict what this experience will reveal and everyone – absolutely everyone – will be left open-mouthed and on edge, not knowing what to think or believe.
Trauma by Michel Simeão is a story full of twists, mysteries and bizarreness - all with a hyper-realistic and engaging pulse, giving the audience the feeling of watching the real life of these characters. The spectators become ghosts who witness the trauma-laden plot invisibly and in secret.
The immersive horror theatre experience is divided into two very different parts:
· The first part was designed to make the audience feel like they are inside the cinema screen watching a delirious and sinister horror film, side by side with the actors. In this phase, the group of 20 spectators live the experience together.
· In the second part, the intensity levels skyrocket and the audience abandons the role of spectators of the film, becoming part of it. They will be divided into pairs and will have an itinerary (which they must follow) that will allow them to visit the dark and private rooms of the convent to discover the root of all the traumas.
· It is at this point that the audience enters what we call the Dark Side to live unique and exclusive experiences, interacting directly with the characters in the nooks and crannies of the convent. Our brave participants will be able to access the darkest, most perverse and intimate details and secrets of history, inside a monument that is almost 400 years old and has a palpable energy charge.
There are no games or puzzles to solve. But your courage will be put to the test inside each of the rooms you will visit. There are no jump scares in the convent; fear is always in the air and everywhere - it penetrates like humidity in winter, freezing your blood.
We are all born from Trauma, from pain.
Those who attack cause trauma and those who suffer trauma attack, even if it is to themselves.
And so an eternal cycle is perpetuated.
Which came first? Aggression or Trauma?
Sometimes it is necessary to open wounds.
The new immersive show by Michel Simeão produced by the Haunted House Project of Teatro Reflexo, will premiere on April 18, 2025 at the former Convento da Encarnação, a building temporarily lent by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, which has thus become a partner in this production that celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Haunted House Project.
This unprecedented immersive theater experience will give the audience the opportunity to discover an emblematic monument located in the heart of Lisbon, built in 1630 and which has a very particular energetic body. The former Convento da Encarnação opens its doors with a show that will leave everyone amazed.

Synopsis

Three long-time friends decide to enter an abandoned convent in the center of Lisbon at night, a place where they played as children and which had a reputation for being haunted.
Driven by an unavoidable purpose, they decide to visit the convent one last time, more than 25 years later. However, no one was prepared for what would become a tragic night where the unimaginable happened.
